Our client, an RTP area pharmaceutical firm in high growth mode, is actively recruiting for an exceptionally strong Accounts Receivable leader for key role on its Financial Management team.

This is a big job.  The company is a global provider of generic pharmaceutical products and has an extremely large product portfolio and customer base.  The A/R balances are in the $100s of millions and are complicated by discounts, credits, returns, rebates and other GTN (Gross-to-Net) factors typical of the pharmaceutical industry.

This Associate Director will supervise a team of ~ 6 in ensuring that Accounts Receivable is effectively managed and that collections are optimized.

It is a critical role and Company will offer generous wage, including relo, to attract and retain the right person.

Key Things to Note:

  • This is one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies in the US.  Seek candidate who thrives in a fast-moving, highly dynamic setting.
  • The focus of the role is ensuring the overall health of A/R which includes managing credit limits, pursuing collections, monitoring/validating deductions, and resolving disputes.  Given the voluminous transaction activity, we seek a seasoned A/R professional who is accustomed to similar numbers and complexities.
  • The pharma industry is unique in terms of its Gross-to-Net factors.  Familiarity with pharma industry deductions and contract terms will be essential.
  • This is a hands-on leadership role.  While the AD will supervise a team, we seek a candidate who will be actively involved in customer relations, tracking large balances, resolving disputes, etc.
  • The company uses SAP and familiarity will be important.  Expert Excel skills are required.
  • This is a hybrid role, requiring ~3 days on site. 

Primary Duties:

  • Supervise a growing team.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of Accounts Receivables including cash forecast, credit management, cash application, DSO, etc.
  • Act as primary contact for managing customer portfolio in relation to new accounts including credit status, credit limit, disputes, etc. Ensure negotiated terms (from Sales team) are properly incorporated into systems.
  • Ensure deductions claimed on payments are compliant with contract terms; resolve disputes and discrepancies.
  • Stay abreast of all customer accounts and engage staff to ensure late payments are minimized and potential disputes are proactively managed and avoided. Communicate with high risks customers directly.
  • Develop direct communication and customer rapport both internally and externally. Serve as a liaison with customer service, sales and marketing and direct customers. 
  • Track Wholesaler Inventory to ensure alignment with chargeback submissions. Analyze as needed.
  • Collaborate with accounting department to provide required accounting close requirements and prepare year end schedules, analyses and reports.
  • Develop and implement policy and standard operating procedures for the department’s adherence. Implement operational enhancements.

Targeted candidate will offer a BA/BS in Accounting (or other financial field) and 8+ years of financial experience including 4+ years in Accounts Receivable.  Substantial knowledge of pharmaceutical industry deductions (rebates, chargebacks, expires, etc.) will be important.
