Our client, a rapidly expanding clean energy company headquartered in Durham, NC, is actively recruiting for a bright and capable candidate to join its Purchasing team.

Key Things to Note:

  • This Buyer will be responsible for strategically managing administrative and financial tasks to support all clean energy project purchases. Seek an experienced Buyer who understands the nuances of a strong buying process.
  • The role will involve partnering with the Project Teams and coordinating all purchasing needs from approved vendors. The volume is high, and the pace is fast. Strong juggling skills will be essential.
  • This is a highly collaborative role involving regular interface with other Supply Chain team members, Project Teams, other colleagues, and vendors. Seek candidate whose purchasing experience is complemented by great communication and relationship-building skills. A sense of humor will be important.
  • Company relies heavily on Excel for tracking, reporting, data analysis, etc. Right candidate will offer advanced Excel skills including use of v-lookups and pivot tables.
  • Position will be located on-site at company’s Durham office.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Organize and source Request for Quote (RFQ) from Internal End User.
  • Negotiate best terms with suppliers such as cost, quality specifications, requirements, and delivery ETA.
  • Communicate RFQ pricing and delivery terms to End User for approval.
  • Maintain and manage purchase requests on a daily basis in the purchasing program.
  • Create and/or revise Purchase Orders (PO’s) for all products and services and submit for approval(s).
  • Forward approved PO to preferred vendor and follow up to ensure the receipt of order acknowledgement.
  • Resolve any PO related issues.
  • Work alongside Accounts Payable to resolve problems and past due invoices.
  • Assist Purchasing Manager in the creation and sourcing of complex RFQ’s.
  • Assist Purchasing Manager in the reconciliation of PO issues.
  • Create and maintain Master Delivery Schedule (MDS) for projects.
  • Work closely with Vendors and Logistics team to update and publish MDS.

Ideal candidate will offer a related degree and 2+ years of increasingly responsible Buyer/Procurement experience. While industry experience is desirable, company is also interested in candidates who bring purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
