Human Resources/Payroll Manager (Raleigh Retailer) – Top $/Direct Hire
Our client, a Raleigh area retail organization with multiple locations within the Triangle, is actively recruiting for a highly capable HR professional, with substantial knowledge of Payroll and Benefits, to assume HR leadership role on its team.
This is a growing company with ~ 120 employees (sales, administrative, field techs, etc.). It prides itself on its employee-focused policies and seeks an HR Manager who brings positive energy to the role. Strong bkgd in employee relations will be important.
Further, it offers a robust benefits package and various compensation plans (hourly, salaried, commission-based, etc.), making the management of these plans both complex and critical. We seek an HR Manager with a strong bkgd in Payroll and Benefits to ensure meticulous execution of both.
Company will offer generous wage to attract and retain the right person. Position will be on-site at the Raleigh location.
Selected Duties:
o Handle all onboarding to include offer letters, reference checks, background/DMV checks, new hire paperwork, setting up (and maintaining) employee files, etc.
o Respond to employee inquiries regarding insurance, payroll, operations or other policies. Support employees in researching benefits or other questions with providers.
o Coach managers on employee-related issues; Provide guidance for disciplinary actions and document as needed.
o Process bi‐weekly payroll for hourly, salaried and commissioned employees.
- Ensure accuracy of information (wage, deductions, etc.) in payroll database
- Ensure Payroll taxes are properly withheld and reported
- Ensure compliance with state, local and federal laws
o File Payroll tax returns as required by state and federal agencies
o Handle all benefits administration to include adding, changing and deleting employee information, reviewing invoices for accuracy, managing the renewal process and open enrollment, etc.
o Manage 401k administration to include adding and changing employee information, transferring funds, notifying newly eligible employees, researching discrepancies, etc.
- Assist with annual 401k audit
- Ensure 5500s are properly filed
o Monitor leave requests and balances
o Process Worker’s Compensation claims
o Respond and follow through with Unemployment claims
o Assist with operational duties such as maintaining keys, ensuring proper licenses, managing postage meter, etc.
o Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings, etc.
o Develop, recommend and institute policies that will enhance employee morale and retention
Targeted candidate will offer a related degree and 5+ years of HR experience including substantial experience processing Payroll (in-house). Deep knowledge of and hands-on experience with tax filing requirements, 401k processes, employee/employer deductions all expected and required.
