Our client, a Raleigh-based Medical Board that regulates and monitors the practice of medicine in North Carolina, is actively recruiting for a very sharp and capable candidate to join its Operations team.

The Medical Board is responsible for investigating complaints against physicians or other healthcare professionals.  Complaints are filed by patients, caregivers, family members, etc. regarding practitioners, practices or facilities.

The Complaints Dept is responsible for triaging the complaint and following protocol regarding its processing and disposition.   This Intake Coordinator will be instrumental in that effort.

Things to Note:

  • Complaints are submitted in writing, through email and through the website.  The Intake Coordinator will organize the Complaints and direct them to the appropriate person to review and assess.
  • Complaints are classified by type and established protocols are followed.  Most will involve written communications to the complainant and, potentially, the physician/practice. This Coordinator will prepare these communications, and excellent writing skills will be important. Templates are used. Mailing out of complaint forms will be required.
  • The Coordinator will be in regular phone or email contact with the complainant – to address questions, complete omitted or incorrect information, provide updates, etc.  Seek candidate with nimble, compassionate and thoughtful communication skills.  Complainants may be distressed.
  • There is a high volume of work with firm deadlines and requirements.  We seek a supremely organized person.
  • Position will involve exposure to medical records and files.  Familiarity with medical terminology will be important.  Absolute discretion will be essential.
  • Accurately managing the scanning and organizing of documents will be important.

Targeted candidate will offer a related degree and 2+ years of business experience, ideally in a healthcare-related setting.  Experience in a Coordinator-type role is preferred.

Other priorities include:

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Outstanding organizational skills – including deadline orientation and superb juggling
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, Adobe, internet navigation and database facility
  • Agile and professional communication skills
  • Supreme discretion

This is a 3-5 month contract position to cover a maternity leave and is an immediate need. This role will pay up to $22/hr.
