Our client, a Cary-based company that is producing diagnostic medical devices, is actively recruiting for a very capable and skilled candidate to lead its small but growing Assembly team.

This individual will be responsible for training, supervising and planning for the production staff (currently 2 people). 

Key Things to Note:

  • This is a Direct Hire position that is on-site at the company’s Cary facility.
  • Role will involve planning for, overseeing and directly contributing to the assembly of small medical devices. This is manual assembly of small parts.  Good manual dexterity will be important.
  • This is high volume work.  Components (plastic caps, silicone connects, valves, threads, etc.) are shipped from overseas and assembled here.  Assembly experience is required. Training on these products will be provided.
  • This is a hands-on supervisory role.  Some supervisory experience, including team lead, is expected.
  • This is a small company planning for expansion.  Great growth potential for a strong candidate. Previous experience working in a start-up setting would be valuable.

Selected Duties:

  • Direct the production assembly team and schedule workflow to fulfill requirements, ensuring that production is completed in a timely manner and within quality parameters.
  • Process will include initial assembly, sterilization and packaging.
  • Coordinate and emulate all processes and activities as established by home office.
  • Drive troubleshooting and problem-solving activities.
  • Work with company President to prioritize department assignments to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Perform and follow QC (quality control) inspection of product standards.
  • Coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality and safety requirements.
  • Participate as an active member of the assembly team and support team when required.
  • Actively participate in cycle counting and inventory accuracy within department.
  • Measure, chart, and monitor predefined performance metrics and provide reports as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean department, adhering to all safety regulations
  • Follow documented QA/RA policies and procedures as designated by quality standards.

This is a key role and we seek a bright go-getter with some Assembly/Production experience. Compensation will be generous.

Requirements include 3+ years’ experience in production or assembly role including 1+ years as a supervisor or team lead. Experience in an FDA-regulated setting as well as in a start-up environment are major plusses.  Excellent manual dexterity will be important.

  • Strong communication skills including ability to train others
  • Ability to record, monitor, and interpret production times, raw material usage, and finished products
  • Proficient computer knowledge including Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Longevity and growth in previous roles
