Program/Project Leader (Cancer Research/PhD Needed) - Top $$/Remote Option
Our client, an NC-based organization that engages cancer researchers from industry, academia and government to collaborate and achieve breakthrough research in the oncology field, has an immediate need a highly skilled and knowledgeable Program Leader, with particular expertise in driving healthcare/scientific research programs, to join its team.
This is a critical role and compensation will be generous.
Key Things to Note:
- The organization, which is wholly committed to the advancement of cancer research, hosts a data-sharing platform that makes cancer research data (both clinical and RWD) available to researchers around the world.
- Organizations engage this team on a wide range of cancer research initiatives. Examples include capturing/redefining adverse events, data-sharing for rare/pediatric cancers, reevaluating standard of care and many others. This Program Leader will lead one or more of these programs.
- The initiatives are complex, multi-faceted, and high impact. They involve coordinating the efforts of a wide range of stakeholders, voluminous data and intense timelines. Program Leaders must have a strong scientific core (PhD expected), outstanding project management skills and highly effective communication skills.
- Many programs include significant involvement with federal agencies (NIH, FDA, DOD, etc.). Related experience would be valuable.
- This is a hands-on role. Right candidate will be both a persuasive strategist and a skilled tactician.
- This position can be remote but will require semi-regular visits to the company’s SAS-based offices in NC. East Coast /Central candidates preferred.
Selected Duties:
- Develop and manage all aspects of program management from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues.
- Formation of Task Forces of content experts from industry, academia, and regulatory agencies to provide scientific advice for the program.
- In collaboration with the Task Force, create and maintain program and project deliverables such as work plans, timelines, milestone tracking reports, and status reports.
- Act as champion for assigned programs. Energize constituents, monitor activity, troubleshoot problems, maintain effective communication and ensure all stakeholders stay on track and committed to the goals.
- Monitor, track, and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, and critical path deliverables.
- Facilitate the resolution of issues (technical, scientific/medical, other) by engaging the Task Force, experts and other constituents. Facilitate consensus.
- Maintain discipline on execution of all deliverables and follow-up actions through tracking tools, follow-up meetings, and other communication channels.
- Develop periodic reports for the Task Force, Management, and Funding agencies to summarize the value proposition, key objectives, and accomplishments.
Targeted candidate will offer a PhD in scientific or data science discipline and 4+ years of Program Management work, ideally in research/healthcare. PMP certification and oncology bkgd preferred.
