Our client, a niche RTP area consulting firm that services the pharmaceutical industry, is expanding its team.

This firm is one of the fastest growing companies in the region, and it is partnering with some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world to lead major process improvement and capital improvement initiatives

These are complex, high dollar projects and Consultants/Project Managers are embedded in client companies to work with the internal teams and drive the execution of these initiatives. 

These are critical roles, and the firm will offer a generous wage to attract top tier talent. 

Key Things to Note:

  • This firm has been engaged by an RTP, NC area client that is building out a $2 billion pharma manufacturing facility to drive the execution of numerous aspects of the plant buildout. Several projects are near completion and preparing for turnover.  
  • This Consultant/PM will project manage the walkdown and punch list efforts.  We seek a candidate who brings experience with capital project close-outs as well as the leadership and organizational skills needed to direct the efforts of others to successfully complete the turnover. Pharma bkgd a plus but will consider those with large capital project experience in similarly complex industries.
  • These are highly technical roles.  This PM, in collaboration with client and engineering firm personnel, will ensure each system is walked down and approved as mechanically complete so that the system can be turned over.  
    • Familiarity with (most of) the following will be important:
      • P&IDs, AF&IDs and Electrical Single Line drawings
      • Working knowledge of ASTM E2500 / Leveraging Verification process
      • System Factory Acceptance Testing
      • Master Project Database (MPD) systems
      • Commissioning, Qualification, Validation (CQV) processes
      • Electrical, HVAC, Hygienic and other utility systems
  • This is a hands-on, on-the-floor role.  This Consultant/PM will walk through the plant (with others/SMEs), hard hat on, drawings in hand and review system readiness. They will manage the successful completion of punch list items – as well as manage prioritization.  Experience managing project turnover will be important.  Bkgd as a systems, process or industrial engineer (or similar) is desirable.
  • This role will require outstanding documentation skills.  Every step of the turnover process must be meticulously documented in a timely, thorough and compliant manner.  Seek candidate with perfectionist tendencies in this regard. 
  • Software requirements include Delta V, Primavera, MS Office as well as excellent database skills.
  • This is a highly collaborative role. As the driver of these initiatives, this PM will regularly interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the closeout are properly understood and executed. We seek a superb communicator.

Targeted candidate will offer a related BS degree (engineering, construction or similar) and 3+ years of experience with large scale projects, ideally including design and construction projects for biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. 

The technical skills cited above as well as experience in plant/construction buildout and closeout/turnover are expected and required. Pilot plant, launch, start-up experience would also be valuable.
