Our client, an RTP area biotech that is developing revolutionary products in the crop protection space, is actively recruiting for a very bright and capable Accountant to join its Finance and Accounting team. This is an outstanding foot in the door opportunity with one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle.

This company, which recently closed on its Series C funding, is developing pesticides that are peptide-based, highly effective and eagerly anticipated by growers, distributors, etc. Marketed products are already exceeding expectations, and the future is bright.

This Accountant will report to the Controller and handle a wide range of day-to-day financial tasks including AP, AR, G/L, Invoicing, Payroll, Inventory, Financial Reporting, Reconciliations, etc. The pace will be fast and dynamic.  The culture is mission-driven but congenial and committed.  We seek candidates who are smart, self-directed, eager to learn and knowledgeable – those who will thrive in this emerging business setting.

Responsibilities will include:

·         Perform month-end close activities including account reconciliations and G/L reviews of prepaids, fixed assets, and other accounts as needed

·         Handle cash management activities including cash application and monthly bank reconciliations

·         Process customer invoices. Communicate with clients about billing discrepancies and/or questions

·         Issue and receive purchase orders for product inventory and others for manufacturing, and Research & development departments.

·         Review and process employee expense reports (Concur)

·         Process vendors’ invoices. Ensure accuracy of the accounts payable aging report

·         Generate monthly and annual consolidated financial reports

·         Assist with annual external audit

·         Complete ad hoc reporting and additional project requests as assigned

·         Ensure the integrity of critical processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls and recommend efficiency and effectiveness improvements

This is a hybrid position with time split between remote and the company’s RTP area offices. 

Targeted candidate will offer a BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or other related and 2+ years of experience in similar Accounting functions.  Manufacturing, biotech and/or related corporate experience is highly preferred. 

Other priorities include:

·         Excellent organizational skill and ability to juggle

·         Keen analytical ability and business acumen

·         Knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley compliance (ICOFR) principles and practices

·         Knowledge of inventory accounting and PO processing

·         Advanced Excel required; Concur and NetSuite experience is a plus

·         Payroll experience (ADP) preferred

·         Strong communication skills, including ability to work with customers and vendors to resolve any discrepancies

·         CPA and public accounting bkgd desirable but not required
